The Everlasting Present – Ukraine 30 years of InDependence,” is a story about the young and troubled history of the former Soviet republic, Ukraine – a country that was unknown to most citizens of the United States, but it was always known to the political establishment of the USA. Since February 22, 2014, with the Maidan coup d’etat, Ukraine quickly became a focal point for Americans and Europeans. This film explores the competing narratives about country’s journey through the eyes of an American filmmaker as it is being told through the words of the men who governed the country. What else was going on behind the struggle for independence? What chain of events led to the current conflict we see today? This film answers many of these questions and more.
