This independent award-winning documentary reveals the gritty world of New York City’s underground street booksellers. It’s remarkable piece of filmmaking made in New York which chronicles the lives and loves of street and sidewalk booksellers and their unique perspectives on life, at a time of societal transition from a media world dominated print literature and into the new age of the internet. Some incredible street vignettes, including then Mayor Giuliani’s “Quality of Life” campaign and the NYPD trying to shut them down, as the battle for free speech raged on in the Big Apple. An incredible snapshot of denizen life in an American metropolis. Watch:
