Our weekly documentary film curated by the editorial team at 21WIRE.
This rare documentary film presents, what at the time of its making, was a radical account of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) activities which had previously been covert, including deep statecraft actions in Iran, Vietnam, Laos, the Congo, Cuba, and Guatemala. The film includes interviews with CIA director Allen Dulles and Dick Bissel, and would not likely be allowed to be made today if such a journalistic venture was undertaken. Was this hard-hitting journalism, or was the film partly a ‘limited hangout’ whereby the agency offered up interviews in order to take some of the public pressure off the agency following the assassination of JFK. Observe this fascinating piece of film and then decide for yourself.
