A number of other subsequent theatrical productions were inspired by, and borrowed themes from this film, including Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket (1987) and Oliver Stone’s Platoon (1986) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989), and also Francis Ford Coppala’s Apocalypse Now (1979).
This film also features interviews with a number of young war veterans, as well as General William Westmoreland, Daniel Ellsberg, and US Senator J. William Fullbright.
